Suno
Generate complete songs with vocals from a prompt — the most popular AI music maker.
The crowd favorite for full songs with vocals — v5 quality is genuinely impressive for the price. Reach for Premier if you want Studio multi-track editing.
What it is
Suno is the most widely used AI music generator, capable of producing complete songs (vocals + instrumentation) from a text prompt. Its v5 model is the quality leader for vocal tracks. As of early 2026 the company has 2M+ paying users and ~$300M ARR (up ~50% QoQ from $200M), with a $2.45B valuation after a $250M Series C led by Menlo Ventures and NVentures. Its recent Warner Music settlement allows training on WMG’s catalog. Suno Studio (Sept 2025) adds an AI-native DAW experience for serious creators.
Best for
- Generate full songs with vocals from a prompt in seconds
- Quick jingles, background music, demos
- Explore genres and vocal styles
- Pro tier: release songs commercially without watermark
- Premier tier: multi-track editing, stem export, MIDI out via Suno Studio
Pros
- Best vocal quality among AI music tools — v5 has largely solved the "AI sings fake" tell
- Full songs with structure (verse / chorus / bridge), not just instrumental clips
- Pro tier is commercial-license clean — you keep the rights to publish
- Premier adds Suno Studio: a real DAW-ish workflow for producers
Cons
- Less fine-grained arrangement control than a human-composed track
- Free tier is non-commercial and watermarked — don’t try to publish from it
- Pure-AI vocal tracks still trigger some streaming-platform AI-content policies
Quick start
- Sign up at https://suno.com (free tier gives 50 credits/day, ~10 songs, non-commercial).
- Click "Create" → switch to Custom mode for prompt + lyrics control (Simple mode is fine for quick sketches).
- Type a prompt: e.g. "indie folk, male vocal, summer vibe, gentle guitar and brushed drums, 130 bpm".
- Optionally paste your own lyrics; otherwise Suno writes them.
- Click Create (costs 80–150 credits per song). When you like a take, click "Download" or "Extend" to keep the song going.
Sample input / output
Style prompt: "dreamy synth-pop, female vocal, reverb-drenched, 110 bpm, key of F# minor, hi-hat rolls on the chorus"
Lyrics (excerpt):
I keep the porch light on for no one
the cat is the only witness now
you said forever like it was nothing
forever folded easy enough "Porch Light (demo)" — a 3:42 track, female vocal in F# minor, 110 bpm
Structure: 8-bar verse / 8-bar pre-chorus / 8-bar chorus / 8-bar verse 2 / outro with vocal ad-lib
2 generations created; pick #2 picked because the chorus melody hits higher on "easy enough".
Free-tier render is watermarked; Pro rerender removes the watermark and grants commercial use. Benchmarks
